Shoreacres Hall Society AGM + more…

Hello Fellow Residence!

We hope everybody is having a wonderful Autumn so far. Beautiful weather, fall colors, clear star filled sky’s and some awesome Aurora Borealis out there so far. What a nice start to Autumn!

SHOREACRES HALL SOCIETY AGM
A reminder to all that the Shoreacres Hall Society AGM is coming up. November 7th at 6:30pm at the Shoreacres Hall (of course)
Come on by and see what Peter and the crew have been working on, they have received some great funding over the year and have many project on the go. Stop in to hear what going on, voice your opinion, or get involved in some of the ongoing and upcoming projects. Some members from the SaNCA board will be there as well if you have any questions for them.
If you have any questions or feedback before the AGM you can contact the Hall society through our Website or use this link.

SHOREACRES COMMUNITY SURVEY
Through out the summer we had encourage the community to fill out a survey. Thank you all who participated your feedback is most helpful in planning the direction of our board and the needs and wants of the community. Part of that survey participation was a gift card draw and congratulations to the 3 winners, Allen, Jonathan and Vilija.

FIRESMART PREVENTION
On September 19th, SaNCA hosted an FireSmart prevention event at the community hall. About 12 people in the community attended and several attendees have already utilized the local FireSmart representative to asses their properties. It was a great way for the community to learn what available resources their are out there and how you can obtain grant money to support fire smarting your property and home.
Thank you all for taking part in this and the SaNCA board members who put this all together. The program is wrapping up for this year, however interested residence can apply again next year. If there is enough community interest SaNCA can assist in coordinating a community FireSmart group.

AUTUMN REMINDERS
It’s Burning season
A reminder to all to be a respectful neighbor. If your fire is getting smokey and you can keep it hot, or if the venting/winds change and does not allow for proper venting. Put your fire out and wait for a better day to burn. We encourage all to visit our website for some “before you burn” guidelines.

Dark Sky’s.
With nightfall coming earlier and earlier the star gazing season is here. A friendly reminder to all to be aware of your light pollution. As some enjoy the security of light during the darker evenings, it may affect your neighbors more than you know. Be aware of your own glow throughout the evenings and nights, and if you are affected by your neighbors glow use encouraging and diplomatic conversations to help them understand the affects it may have outside their property boundary. They may not even know it is a bother.(I was once a culprit myself till a neighbor reached out)
If you enjoy the safety and security of lights in the evening but are not outside working, perhaps think about using ambient yard lighting, dimmer switches with dimmable low wattage light-bulbs and/or install shields to help ensure the brighter lights glow don’t leave your property.

I hope everyone has a great October and see you all at the Shoreacres Hall’s AGM November 7th at 6:30PM.
