Camp Fire Ban to start Thursday July 26th at noon.

Several areas throughout the province are currently experiencing hot and dry conditions, causing forest fuels to dry out and an increase in the fire danger rating. To help prevent human caused wildfires and protect public safety, new fire bans and prohibitions are being put in place in the Kamloops, Southeast, and Coastal Fire Centres.

Effective at noon on Thursday, July 26, 2018, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre and the Kamloops Fire Centre.

For information regarding the ban in the Southeast Fire Centre please visit: http://bcfireinfo.for.gov.bc.ca/…/Wildf…/DisplayArticle.asp…

As of noon on July 25, 2018, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will be prohibited in Haida Gwaii, although campfires will still be allowed there. Please note that Category 2, Category 3, and campfire bans are currently prohibited throughout the entire Coastal Fire Centre except in the Fog Zone. With hot weather and dry lightning in the forecast, it is crucial to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, so the BC Wildfire Service can deal with naturally occurring lightning-caused fires that start.
