Our Society
The Shoreacres Neighbourhood Community Association (SaNCA) Vision Statement is “To be stewards of the Shoreacres community supporting the health and well being of the residents, young to old, striving for a safe, vibrant and thriving neighborhood now and into the future.” During the creation of SaNCA we worked closely with the residents to establish what they felt was the basis for a thriving neighbourhood. We took their input and helped facilitate a process of result orientated action.
The guests were led through a facilitated Q and A session that everyone was engaged in. Some of these questions and answers are listed below.
Q: What is the biggest change you have seen in Shoreacres over the last 5 years?
A: Fewer children, less Doukhobors, heavier traffic, increase river use, curb side recycling
Q: What is the one major improvement that would make living in this neighborhood better for you?
A: Gatherings and socials, new bulletin board, tool cooperative, community directory
Q: Why is it important for you to know your neighbors? A: To get and give help, to feel safe, sharing opportunities, resources, skills, information
